An adjunct lecturer at SUNY Poly professor will be signing off on 2017 with a brand new book hitting shelves.

In Who Said That? The Opening Lines of Great Literature, Donald Thomas quizzes readers on the opening lines of great novels, plays, short stories and poems. Some may seem more familiar, others a bit challenging, but as is the case with the opening line of every literary work, it’s meant to draw the reader in and want them to continue on the journey.

“As a longtime English teacher, I taught a number of the books that are quoted in Who Said That,” Thomas explains. “These books had become like old friends and I wanted to introduce other people to my friends. Indeed, someone once said our only true friends in life are good books.”

Thomas has spent 40 years teaching language and literature, in three languages, from elementary school through college, currently teaching foreign language at SUNY Poly’s Utica campus.

With a list price of $9.95, Who Said That? is available on Amazon.com.
