Utica Observer-Dispatch: OUR VIEW: Government really can work

The Aug. 20 announcement that two major companies will put down nanotechnology roots in Marcy and eventually bring several thousand jobs into the region is an example of what can happen when political leaders put people over party.
It’s a direction we strongly encourage our representatives in Albany — and at all levels of government — to maintain.
During a visit last week with the O-D editorial board, Alain Kaloyeros, president and CEO of SUNY Polytechnic Institute, touched on many topics regarding the plan to develop the state’s nanotechnology corridor. But the one thing he insisted made it all come together was the united spirit that drove the process from Day One.
