The use of radiation producing devices (X-ray, Electron Microscopes, and Ion Implanters) is governed by the New York State Department of Health. The Radiation Safety Officer must be informed in advance of any new installations, modifications, removal, or maintenance performed on any radiation producing equipment.

Training:

All tenants, faculty, staff, and students working with radiation producing devices must complete online Radiation Safety Training prior to beginning any work with radiation producing devices. The training is available on the SUNY Poly intranet. In addition to the online training, the user must be trained on the use of the equipment by the equipment owner or representative of the manufacturer.
