Work in the mechanical engineering field can range from large systems to their smallest parts, requiring professionals in the field to have a broad skill set. Advancements in technology often challenge mechanical engineers to go beyond the profession’s traditional role by creating new technologies that meet society’s needs.
SUNY Polytechnic Institute’s mechanical engineering program provides students with an understanding of the fundamental principles of mechanical engineering through engineering design and analysis coursework. An emphasis is placed on project-based course work, giving students practical experience inherent to the field of mechanical engineering. The program strives to help students pursue their individual goals and future career pursuits and provides an understanding of professional, ethical and social responsibilities.
