Centers + Programs

SUNY Polytechnic Institute is involved with a number of centers and programs that aim to bridge the gap between university research opportunities and manufacturing implementation.

SUNY Poly is the home of numerous pioneering nanotechnology programs funded by a variety of public and private sources.

  • The Advanced Cybersecurity Research Lab (ACRL) focuses on cybersecurity, machine learning, and autonomic computing approaches. Most of this work is applied to Cloud computing, SCADA, and 5G Systems.
  • The New York State Data Center is a partnership between the New York State Office of Information Technology Services (ITS), and New York State Office of General Services (OGS), to make government IT operations and services more efficient and reliable. The center will be a resource to train the state's next generation of IT workers and is expected to save New York State $50 million annually through the creation of a more efficient state IT system.
  • Albany NanoTech Complex: NYCREATES’ Albany NanoTech Complex is home to UAlbany's College of Nanotechnology, Science and Engineering. Through courtesy faculty appointments, approximately 15 SUNY Poly professors have active collaborations with CNSE faculty that utilize the space. The site offers a fully-integrated research, development, prototyping, and educational facility that provides strategic support through outreach, technology acceleration, business incubation, pilot prototyping, and test-based integration support for onsite corporate partners including IBM, GlobalFoundries, Samsung, Applied Materials, Tokyo Electron, ASML and Lam Research, as well as other “next generation” nanotechnology research activities.
  • Center for Advanced Semiconductor Power Electronics Research (CASPER) aims to advance power electronics based on wide bandgap materials such as SiC, GaN, and Ga2O3. CASPER has assembled a strong team encompassing material growth, device design, fabrication, packaging, and characterization. Particularly, CASPER has been conducting pioneering research in the field of SiC power device, III-nitride material growth/characterization, and high voltage packaging and characterization.
