Athletics Program Assistant

Duties: Assist with a team sport (practices, study hall/academic mentoring, social adjustment, team interpersonal needs, coaching/practices/game strategy development); handle home game management and facility supervision (scheduling, compliance, risk management); work as an intramural/recreation coordinator; assist the sports information department (collect statistics, write and post stories, interact with media, social media posting).

Skills: Athletics background/interest in a career in athletics administration, coaching, or sports information preferred.

Career Services Program Assistant

Duties: Creation and update of current office collateral (pamphlets, booklets, etc.); video production; social media production (Facebook); research of other SUNY and private institutional career centers for best practices; database management; event planning and marketing such as assistance with the annual Business Etiquette Luncheon and the Career & Graduate School Fair.

Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Suite; social media proficiency; strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to conduct data collection, create spreadsheets, and analyze data and reports; superior grooming and business casual/professional attire a must; ability to adapt to adequate instruction and request feedback when needed.

Disability Services Program Assistant

Duties:  Provide technical support and training to students with disabilities on the use of adaptive/assistive technologies. Software includes: Read and Write Gold, Zoom Text, Dragon Naturally Speaking, and Live Scribe Smart Pen. The understanding of apps and their use as educational tools is a plus. Occasionally there will be a need to use a program called Omnipage Pro to convert printed material into text based form that students with disabilities can use. Knowledge of converting text to PDF is valuable and to convert the PDF version to use on the iPad or iPhone. The GA may also be responsible for assisting students at the Learning Center by proctoring exams, reading exam questions, and scribing assistance with students.

Skills: Applicants must have flexibility and patience in doing a variety of tasks and working with students that have diverse learning styles. Strong computer software skills and the ability to quickly learn software applications is highly desired. Editing skills will be needed when working on the alternate format materials. Applicants must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Educational Opportunity Program Assistant

Duties: Monitor study sessions and tutor students enrolled in the EOP program; create and maintain reports tracking student progress.

Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Enrollment Marketing Program Assistant

Duties: Assist with print and web marketing projects, social media campaigns, spreadsheet and data management, e-mail marketing campaigns, proofreading, print and digital design, and other projects pertaining to enrollment marketing.

Skills: Creative with strong written communication skills; interest in marketing; proficiency in design software is preferred but not required.

Library Services Program Assistant

Duties: Provide research support and tutoring in the research process to current students; create online instructional guides for research topics; serve as a service point for students in need of resources; coordinate/create library displays; direct library tours when needed; create and maintain library related web content; create promotional or informational media content; assist faculty with literature reviews and citation analysis; assist with programming and support of special events; assist with providing general library services as needed.

Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to use learn and use new technology; interest in and ability to learn research tools and methodologies in multiple disciplines; ability to teach others in both formal and informal settings; ability to learn complex tasks quickly; some research background is desirable.

Residential Life & Housing Program Assistant

Duties: Cultivate positive relationships that support the ability to assist with students’ personal, academic, and social issues in a constructive and caring manner; know and effectively utilize all institutional and community referral services; assist the Resident Director with the supervision of resident advisors; manage the Adirondack Residential Complex RA Office including supplies, schedules and materials for residents to sign out (kitchen, vacuums,etc); schedule the Adirondack work study students including their staff meetings; participate in and assist with the department’s staff selection and housing processes; participate in departmental staff meetings; assist with office programming; maintain office hours.

Skills: Must work independently, show initiative, have strong time management skills, have a solid understanding of confidentiality, and a proven ability to work with a diverse population.

Student Activities Program Assistant

Duties: Support the functions of the Office of Student Activities by serving as a resource during office hours (held during regular institution hours of 8:30 am – 4:30 pm) as well as at some evening programming. All evening needs will be communicated in advance. Responsibilities include attending some evening programs, holding regular office hours, and entering and organizing vital assessment data following Student Activities-hosted events. The successful candidate may have the opportunity to serve on a programming committee, which is a team of SUNY Poly community members who help to plan and implement campus-wide events and programming initiatives. The successful candidate will be appropriately trained in all aspects of the job.

Skills: Maturity and a willingness to learn; excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to operate successfully in a team and fast-paced environment; interest in student leadership, student engagement or programming.

Student Success & Learning Center Program Assistant

Duties: Serve as a tutor for undergraduate computer science students; assist with data collection and database management including creating spreadsheets, analyzing traffic patterns, and recommending potential changes to the tutoring schedule; assist with updates to the Learning Center web page; assist with analysis of Early Warning data and creation of retention reports.

Skills: Good interpersonal skills, attention to detail, willingness to be of assistance, patience and sensitivity toward students with disabilities.
