SUNY Poly continues the tradition of bringing to the forefront the outstanding academic work that takes place on our campus, across all programs and fields.

This year the Showcase will inaugurate the addition of the research and scholarship work of the faculty, transforming the event into an all-inclusive Student and Faculty Project Showcase (SFPS). The showcase will open a window into the research, scholarship, creative endeavors and applied/experiential learning that undergraduate or graduate students together with the faculty develop on SUNY Poly campus.

The Showcase will take place on campus on Friday, April 26th and will include poster displays, oral presentations, demonstrations and art exhibitions that reflect the range of topics in science and engineering, arts and humanities, business and social sciences, and health sciences that are explored at SUNY Poly and other research institutions from Utica area.

Members of the external community, including local leaders in government and industry, family members of student presenters, prospective students, and SUNY Poly alumni, will also be invited to attend, observe, discuss and contribute to the success of the Showcase.

Information for Students and Faculty
All students and faculty are invited to participate and attend the Showcase. Students will have the choice of presenting through different modes: academic posters, displays, demonstrations, and lightning talks/pitches.

Student work should be sufficiently developed to represent the culmination of a semester-long project, extended research or creative effort. Every presenter’s work must be reviewed and approved by a faculty member to be included in Showcase event.

The experience of presenting the project work or research and demonstrate the achievements will be rewarded with Certificates and will benefit the students by enriching their resumes.

Plan Class Assignments
Faculty members are encouraged to create assignments for students that explore meaningful topics or connect their research to the classes being taught.

Individual assignments:  If your course includes a semester-long project, ask your students to register and present it at the Showcase. The student performance during the Showcase may be reflected in the final grade, as appropriate.

Group projects: Ask your students to form groups (or place them in teams yourself) and create a poster presentation relevant to a theme or topic in your course. Groups can collectively develop an individual project idea, or you can assign each group a specific theme or topic.

If your course does not include a project, ask your students to attend presentations and/or poster sessions relevant to your course content and provide them with reflection questions to answer.

Showcase Registration
All presenters must submit an abstract with their registration that will be included in the Showcase program, which will be displayed on the SPFS website. During the registration and submission period all the participants are required to upload electronic files representing their presentation choice (posters, displays, lightning talks/pitches and video files for demonstrations). More information regarding the format of the posters and of the electronic documents can be found on the SPFS website.
The student registration and submission form are now open and available on the SPFS website.

The Virtual Student & Faculty Project Showcase submission deadline is Friday, April 19th. Any changes regarding the status of the SPFS will be announced through the daily community mailer.
