The New York State Department of Civil Service, located in Albany, is the central personnel agency for the Executive Branch of State government,which employs approximately 188,000 people. The Department is responsible for providing the State of New York with a trained, capable and motivated public work force, selected on the basis of excellence and equal opportunity.
