Individuals interested in joining SUNY Polytechnic Institute as a J-1 Exchange Visitor must work closely with their SUNY Poly host department and/or faculty member to discuss the details of their program at SUNY Poly and begin the application process.
J-1 Exchange Visitors must obtain a form DS-2019 from SUNY Polytechnic Institute. The DS-2019 is a Certificate of Eligibility for Exchange Visitor Status (J-Nonimmigrant).
The Form DS-2019:
- Identifies the exchange visitor (J-1) or their accompanying spouse or dependents, if any (J-2)
- Identifies the sponsor and sponsors’ official information (address, phone, etc.)
- Provides details about the sponsor including the program number and categories for which they are designated
- Identifies the beginning and end dates of the program and the applicable program category and subject/field description
- Provides a breakout of the total estimated financial support for the exchange visitor during their program
