The Liberty Partnerships Program offers services to students and families to maximize the successful transition of middle and high school students into graduates who are fully prepared for the rigors of higher education and the competitive demands of the workplace.
The Liberty Partnerships Program (LPP) was established in 1988 under Section 612, Subdivision 6 of the Education Law to address the significant dropout rate among New York’s youth. The SUNY Poly LPP Program is funded by the New York state department of education, Office of K-16 Initiatives and Access Programs Pre-Collegiate Preparation Programs Unit. Through our Institutions of Higher Education, LPP offers strong school and community partnerships that deliver research-based programming to students enrolled in public and non-public schools to promote positive outcomes.
In Fall of 2022, SUNY Polytechnic Institute was awarded the Liberty Partnership Program in collaboration with CNYHHN, Inc., Daneli Partners, and six Herkimer County public school districts (Central Valley, Dolgeville, Frankfort-Schuyler, Herkimer, Little Falls, and Mount Markham). SUNY Poly LPP’s goal is to serve 40 students per district, totaling 240 students, in grades 5-12. However, students in grades 5-8 will be prioritized due to evidence that the earlier at-risk students are identified and served, the better the outcome.
The SUNY Poly LPP program offers a wide range of supports and services to enrolled students including:
Provided monthly to support students, personally identified academic, career, and social goals.
Targeted to assess each student's individual social emotional development level.
Designed to meet each student's individualized academic, career, and personal goals.
Connection to tools and resources to help students meet their academic and career goals (college tours and resume building).
Offered regularly in district and expanding to include civic engagement, leadership, programming, and specialized field programming.
LPP students are invited to attend camps and events at no cost to families including academic and career based programs supporting continued and new interest in career exploration.
