Campus Fire Safety Month - Part 4
Good Morning!
We continue our Campus Fire Safety Month with some more ways to be aware of how to be fire safe.
Fire Safe Facts – Alcohol & Fire
- Alcohol was a factor in 76% of all Fatal College fires (2000-2015) ( Source: https://www.usfa.fema.gov/prevention/outreach/college.html)
- Alcohol increases the risk of initiating a fire by impairing one’s judgment and coordination.
- Alcohol diminishes your ability to detect a fire. An alcohol-impaired person may fail to notice the smell of smoke, or fail to hear a smoke alarm.
- Escape from a fire can be hampered by the loss of motor coordination and mental clarity, even when warning signs are heeded.

Watch our fire safety videos streaming over the campus TV Channel 10 and watch for fire safety reminders throughout our campus. Together we can ensure a fire safe community.
