Dr. Darlayne Addabbo is a new assistant professor of mathematics at SUNY Poly. She joins the university after receiving her PhD in mathematics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and following postdoctoral positions at both the University of Notre Dame and the University of Arizona.

This past summer, Dr. Addabbo co-organized a special session on “New Developments in infinite dimensional Lie algebras, vertex operator algebras and the Monster” at the Joint Meeting of the American Mathematical Society and the Unione Matematica Italiana in Palermo, July 23-26, 2024. The session brought together mathematicians and theoretical physicists from around the world for interesting talks and lively scientific conversation.

She will serve as co-editor for the upcoming Contemporary Mathematics proceedings volume of the special session. The volume will include articles describing current research and open problems written by both mathematicians and physicists, thereby encouraging further interdisciplinary collaboration.
