You are invited to a presentation by Nichols Lanzillo, a candidate for a Lecturer in Mathematics in College of Arts and Sciences.
Date:         Friday, April 3, 2015
Time:         3 pm
Room:       DON 2132 (Arts and Sciences Conference Room)

Abstract: Density functional theory is a powerful technique can be used to describe the properties of many-electron systems. In this talk, I will give an overview of the theory, discuss how it can be implemented computationally and how it can be applied to study the electronic and chemical properties of materials at the nano-scale. Specific applications include diffusion in semiconductors, electron transport across organic molecules, and more.
