Observer-Dispatch: CNY Drones soars into the future
There is a buzz in the air at SUNY Polytechnic Institute.
From the area of the robotics lab in Donovan Hall, passersby can hear the buzz of drones being created by college and high school students.
The sound is courtesy CNY Drones, a volunteer group that spurs interest in drone technology through problem-solving activities and competition participation.
The endeavor is coordinated by Robert Payne, the drone club adviser who also is an adjunct adviser in mechanical engineering technology at the college.
In September, the club will unveil work it has completed that will be entered in a spring competition geared toward simulated problem solving.
