Rome Sentinel: Team scholarship available for ‘Rig Rescue’ event
A scholarship will be awarded to help a needy team participate in the April 15 “Rig Rescue” drone challenge, said the CNY Drones group.
The scholarship, to be awarded based on need and commitment level, will include the $50 competition registration fee, a drone with camera, radio controller, and a set of “First Person View” goggles. The scholarship value is about $150.
The deadline for entering to seek the scholarship is March 13 by noon. Local team mentors with teams in need of resources can fill out a short questionnaire at cnydrones.org online. The award recipient will be notified by March 15.
Half of the anticipated teams are currently registered for the 10-team “Rig Rescue,” which is April 15 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at SUNY Polytechnic Institute Campus Center gym in Marcy. It is open to teams of two-to-five members, for ages 11 and up.
