SUNY Polytechnic Institute is committed to maintaining an environment in which students, faculty, staff and guests can work together free from all forms of harassment, exploitation and intimidation. SUNY Poly will take action as needed to discourage, prevent and correct behavior that violates these standards of conduct and, when appropriate, take disciplinary action.
Disciplinary Action
Students accused of violations of the applicable policy receive hearings and are subject to disciplinary procedures under the provisions of the Student Code of Conduct. These procedures include:
- The accuser and the accused must have the same rights to have others present.
- The accuser and the accused will be informed of the outcome of the proceedings.
Individuals may also be subject to criminal prosecution under New York State law.
Faculty and staff accused of policy violations receive hearings and are subject to discipline under the provisions of applicable collectively negotiated agreements and University policies and procedures. They may also be subject to criminal prosecution under New York State law.
Reporting Sexual Assault, Rape or Sexual Harassment
Allegations of sexual assault or rape should be reported to the SUNY Poly University Police Department. Allegations of sexual harassment should be reported to the appropriate University office.

Confidentiality
Efforts will be made to maintain the confidentiality of reports, except as necessary or required to investigate alleged offenses and comply with applicable laws, policies and procedures.
Reporting an Incident on Campus
A SUNY Poly employee, student or other member of the University community who receives information or an allegation concerning an offense should report it promptly to the appropriate University office.

Reporting an Incident Off Campus
Allegations of sexual assault or rape occurring off campus should be reported to the appropriate local or state law enforcement agency. In an emergency, call 911.

Counseling and Support
SUNY Poly provides counseling and support services through the Counseling Center. Students may contact the Counseling Center at campus extension 7160.
