Stalking is broadly defined as repeated harassment or threatening behavior that would cause a reasonable person to feel fear. These behaviors may include unwanted contact, attention or harassment; invasive communication by email, phone, text message or mail; and direct or indirect threats.

How Can I Protect Myself?

If you are experiencing stalking or threatening behavior, consider the following steps:

  • Contact the appropriate law enforcement agency if you feel threatened or unsafe.
  • Create a safety plan that addresses your individual situation.
  • Consider seeking an order of protection or other legal protections that may be available to you.
  • Learn about your rights and available support resources.
