Traffic Regulations
- Laws in Effect: New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law and State University of New York traffic ordinances are in effect on University property.
- Speed: The speed limit on campus property is 25 mph unless otherwise posted. Speed is monitored by radar and is strictly enforced.
- Accidents: Motor vehicle accidents on University property must be reported to the SUNY Polytechnic Institute University Police Department at 315-792-7222.
- Parking on Roadways: Parking is prohibited on campus roadways at all times.
- Motorcycles: Motorcycles may not be driven on sidewalks or parked close to buildings.
Safety Reminders
- Vehicle and traffic laws and regulations are in effect at all times.
- Always wear your seat belt.
- Never drive while impaired. Arrange for a safe alternative if you are unable to drive safely.
- Report suspicious activity or vehicles observed around campus parking areas to University Police at 315-792-7222. In an emergency, call 911.
- Keep your vehicle locked and the windows closed when it is unattended.
- Keep a spare set of keys in a secure location rather than inside your vehicle.
- Keep valuable items and equipment out of sight when possible.
- Parking permits must be permanently and entirely affixed to the driver's-side window using their own adhesive. Taping or other temporary methods of attachment are not permitted.
