Parking Regulations

If you need additional information not contained in this page or have any suggestions on security matters, please feel free to call or stop in at the University Police Office. A complete copy of regulations is on file in the University Police Office, ground floor of Kunsela Hall, Room B126.

Regulations

  1. Registration - Registration is required of all students, faculty and staff using any lot. A parking decal or temporary permit is required on all vehicles even if used for one day. Additional vehicles can be registered for no additional parking fee, but only one registered vehicle can be parked on campus at a time. Parking fees as approved by the Chancellor or designee shall be charged for motor vehicles parked within designated lots. Vehicles are not considered registered until the decal is displayed on the window with its own adhesive (see "7"). If you drive a vehicle that is not registered on campus, please notify the University Police Office anytime, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Any call box can be used, or dial 792-7222. Any attempt to register a vehicle for use by another person other than yourself will be treated as fraud. Criminal action and/or college discipline will be implemented. Fraud is a crime in New York State.
  2. Display of Decal - The decal must be displayed on one of the rear driver's side windows.
  3. Purchase of Decal - Decals are paid for at the Business Office. This DOES NOT register the vehicle--the decal must be picked up at the University Police Office.
  4. Issue of Decal - Decals are issued by the University Police Office Kunsela Hall Building, the office is open 24 hours a day. *NOTE: Persons seeking a decal must present at the time of application, a current valid vehicle registration and proof of being a SUNY student.
  5. Medical Permits - Medical permits (requires doctor's authorization) may be obtained Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Office of University Police. THESE PERMITS MUST BE PLACED AND VISIBLE ON THE DASHBOARD.
  6. Temporary Permits - Temporary permits can be obtained 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. THESE PERMITS MUST BE PLACED AND VISIBLE ON THE DASHBOARD.
  7. Permits Are NOT Transferable and must be permanently and entirely affixed with their own adhesive. Taping and other temporary adhesion is not permitted. If you plan to change vehicles during the time your permit is valid, you must remove the old permit. A replacement is available from the University Police Office.
  8. Visitor Parking is primarily available in parking lots B, F, E, M and J. Vehicles parked outside the designated visitor area must display a valid registration decal or temporary permit. Students, Faculty, and Staff cannot be classified as visitors no matter whose vehicle they are parking.
  9. Overnight Parking is prohibited in all lots except E, F, H, I, J, K, L and M. Prior authorization is required for overnight parking in any other lot. Yellow Emergency Call Boxes can be used to notify University Police of this.
  10. Driving on Pedestrian Walks is prohibited on campus. Emergency vehicles or college maintenance vehicles are exempt.
  11. Warning Tickets - Warning tickets for unregistered vehicles are generally issued during the first week of classes as a reminder. This is a courtesy--you are not guaranteed a warning.
