Advance your expertise in wireless communications, RF systems, Internet of Things (IoT), software-defined radio (SDR), and emerging 5G and 6G technologies through SUNY Poly’s Next-Generation Wireless Systems Professional Development Series.
Designed for engineers and technical professionals, this three-course series combines technical instruction with hands-on experience to help participants design, implement, and evaluate modern wireless and connected technologies.
Participants will learn from faculty affiliated with SUNY Poly’s Wireless & Intelligent Next Gen Systems (WINGS) Research Center while developing practical skills applicable across telecommunications, defense, healthcare, manufacturing, and other technology-driven industries.

- Format: In-person weekend instruction designed for working professionals

Build a strong foundation in modern digital communication systems through the study of modulation techniques, communication architectures, radio frequency (RF) systems, and software-defined radio (SDR).
Participants will explore the technologies that power today’s wireless networks while gaining hands-on experience designing, implementing, and evaluating digital communication systems.
Topics include communication system architecture, link budgets, modulation schemes, spread spectrum communications, and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM).
Explore the technologies driving the Internet of Things (IoT) and connected systems.
This course examines the complete IoT ecosystem, from sensors and embedded devices to wired and wireless networking, cloud computing, data analytics, and system integration.
Through hands-on projects and real-world applications, participants will learn how connected devices communicate, collect data, and enable intelligent decision-making across industries.
Examine the principles and applications of advanced radio frequency (RF) wireless systems operating at high frequencies.
Participants will explore emerging wireless technologies, experimental RF techniques, and next-generation communication systems while gaining practical insight into the challenges and opportunities associated with designing, testing, and evaluating high-frequency wireless networks.
The course emphasizes real-world applications supporting the continued evolution of 5G, future 6G, and advanced wireless communications.

Designed for working professionals with a basic working knowledge of signals and systems (convolution, Fourier transforms, LTI systems).
