- The Students that complete the Family Nurse Practitioner (M.S.) program at SUNY Poly will:
- Embody a curiosity for and engage in creative solutions with evidence-based initiatives to mitigate the challenges in practice, education and leadership.
- Assure the individual’s rights to self-directed healthcare is at the center of all practice, education and leadership decisions.
- Represent the values, norms, and mores of the nursing profession with commitment and veracity in advanced practice roles.
- Justify clinical judgements, intervention strategies, and inter-professional consultations based on a specialized body of knowledge and advanced skills in family practice settings.
- Utilize technologies, data, and communication networks to manage the diversity and complexities of healthcare in family practice.
- Collaborate with members of interdisciplinary healthcare teams and stakeholders to inform the development of healthcare policy.
Program Specific MS FNP Student Outcomes
- Integrate sciences, humanities, theories, and frameworks to advance nursing science, professional identity, and lifelong learning.
- Engage in the spirit of inquiry, scholarship and best evidence to inform practice decisions.
- Guide policy development aligned with professional nursing values to direct improvements and quality outcomes across organizational systems.
- Collaborate with interprofessional healthcare teams and multiple stakeholders as a member and leader to coordinate and manage the diversity and complexities of family healthcare across the lifespan.
- Utilize technologies, data, and communication networks to enhance family healthcare services and promote client-centered outcomes.
- Manage family health care across the lifespan utilizing models of health prevention, health protection, disease prevention and concepts of cultural competence.
- Evaluate clinical judgements, intervention strategies, and inter-professional consultations based on a specialized body of knowledge within the advanced practice role as a family nurse practitioner across a variety of settings.
- Practice critical reflection through self-evaluation and peer evaluation processes to enhance care and practice as an advanced practice nurse.
