Transfer Students

You are considered a transfer student at SUNY Poly if you completed any college credit after high school graduation. If you earned college credit before high school graduation - regardless of the number of credit hours - you are considered a freshman/first-year student.

Apply to the Utica or Albany Campus

1. Apply online by submitting the SUNY Application.

  • The fee is $50*. The SUNY Application allows you to apply to multiple SUNY schools with one application.

*The application fee can be waived for the following eligible students:

  • Students who are graduating with an associate degree from a SUNY or CUNY college. This waiver is located on the SUNY application.
  • Students whose household income does not exceed 185% of the federal poverty guidelines. A fee waiver form must be submitted to confirm eligibility and receive the waiver.
  • Students who are considered an active-duty service member; National Guard or active Reserve member; veteran; spouse or dependent child of an active duty, National Guard, active Reserve or veteran sponsor. A fee waiver request form must be submitted to confirm eligibility and receive the waiver.

2. Submit the following documents for a completed application:

  • Official college transcript(s)
  • Official high school transcript(s)**

The following additional items may be requested by an Admissions Advisor:

**All transfer students, per New York State mandate, must submit a high school transcript to the Admissions Office as part of the review process. However, this transcript will only be used as an evaluative tool in the review process if you have completed 30 or fewer college credit hours at the time of application; otherwise, decisions are made solely on the basis of your college record.

Transcripts and other application material should be mailed to:
