Dear Colleagues,

Happy DIII Week!

As your Faculty Athletics Representative, I welcome you all to celebrate Division III Week and encourage
your support and participation in SUNY Poly Athletics. This week, we celebrate the accomplishments of
our student-athletes, both on and off the field. From academic achievements to community service
endeavors, our student-athletes demonstrate excellence in various aspects of their collegiate
experience. I invite you to read the recent SUNY Poly Stories of current student-athletes Jordan Macbeth
(lacrosse) and Trinity Critelli (softball), as well as 2014 alumna, Stephanie Wurz (soccer). They are all
truly inspiring individuals and exemplars of The Three D’s: Discover, Develop, Dedicate.

I would also like to ask interested faculty to consider serving as a Faculty Athletic Mentor (FAM). The
FAM program provides an academic mentoring point-of-contact for student-athletes and coaches and
an opportunity to foster relationships between athletics and academics at SUNY Poly. The program
allows academics and athletics to effectively integrate and work together to bolster the mission of SUNY
Poly and support the NCAA Division III Philosophy. Currently, there are FAM vacancies for the following
teams: Men’s and Women’s Soccer, Men’s and Women’s Cross Country, Mixed Golf, Men’s Volleyball,
and Softball. Please contact me if you are interested in joining the FAM!
