The leave donation program is designed to help employees who are suffering a serious hardship due to illness or disability. One of our colleagues, Bob Richie, has exhausted all of his leave credits while on medical leave.
Individuals who would like to participate in the Leave Donation Program may donate from their vacation credits in full day units. Please keep in mind that your vacation leave balance cannot be fewer than 10 days after the donation.
The Office of Human Resources will be responsible for monitoring the donation process. You may contact Cait Dempsey and Jennifer DeMayo at benefits@sunypoly.edu if you have any specific questions.
If you are interested in donating some of your leave, please complete the Leave Donation Form and send it to Benefits at benefits@sunypoly.edu. Your participation will be greatly appreciated. Information regarding individual donations will be kept confidential.
IMPORTANT NOTE DUE TO THE EXPIRATION OF AGREEMENTS ON CARRYOVER OF VACATION ACCRUALS
The NYS Civil Service Attendance & Leave Manual - Leave Donation Policy states the following as it pertains to eligibility to donate leave:
“An employee may not donate credits in excess of 40 days which he/she would otherwise forfeit. Such employees cannot donate days over 40 which exceed the number of days they could have used between the date of donation and the date on which credits in excess of 40 days are forfeited under the Attendance Rules and negotiated agreements. For example, an M/C employee with a vacation balance of 45 days who, as of the day of donation, has three remaining workdays prior to January 1 cannot donate more than three days under this program until January 1.”
An employee who has submitted a resignation, retirement or who has been notified of termination may not donate time that would otherwise be forfeited, but can donate time that would be eligible for a 30-day vacation payout, reducing the payout by the number of days donated.
