Organize your files into folders (directories) so you can locate them quickly in the future. A common strategy for students is to create folders for each class they are enrolled in.
Clean up your files periodically
Reduce clutter in your file system by deleting old and unwanted e-mail messages and files. Create archive folders on the (SFS) for files that are needed but not in the immediate future. You may choose or organize these files by semester, year or projects. SFS archived files should be moved to a removable storage media when you are low on space.
Label removable media (CDs, DVDs, USB Drives) appropriately
Media should be labeled so the owner can identify its contents and others can identify the media’s owner. The University Police department has a lost and found collection of removable media. Every semester, many disks and USB Drives are left unclaimed because their owners and contents can not be identified.
