It’s a major step for the Nano Utica Project.

Governor Andrew Cuomo says the Army Corps of Engineers has approved a wetlands permit for the Marcy Nanocenter site at SUNY IT.

The approval will allow additional construction at the site to move forward.

Construction of the Computer Chip Commercialization Center (Quad-C) is currently underway and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2014.

Cuomo says approval of the permit is an important step forward to continue economic development plans, create jobs in the Mohawk Valley and build on a $1.5 billion  investment at Nano Utica.

Mohawk Valley EDGE has filed an application with the Marcy Town Planning Board to secure final site plan approval.

The Planning Board will be holding a required public hearing on August 11th.
