SolarCity is looking to hire the first employees for its Buffalo solar panel factory.

The residential solar energy systems installer, which is planning to occupy a 1.2 million-square-foot factory being built in the RiverBend complex in South Buffalo that ultimately is expected to employ 1,460 people, has posted listings for its first six positions at what is expected to be one of the world’s largest solar panel factories when it hits full production in early 2017.

Half of the six job openings are for human resources and recruiter positions, which will help lay the foundation for the company’s accelerated hiring pace as the factory moves toward a targeted completion date around the end of this year.

The other positions are for a vice president of manufacturing and a pair of staff engineers as the company gears up to start outfitting the new factory beginning early next year.
