The SUNY Polytechnic Institute's Zero Energy Nanotechnology (ZEN) building is likely to open by July 2015,  Pradeep Haldar said during a conference at Albany Law School Thursday.

"This is the largest mixed-use clean energy facility in the world that is going to be generating its own power," said Haldar, vice president of entrepreneurship at SUNY Poly. "It a first of its kind demonstration facility that shows we can be self sustaining from an energy perspective as well."

The 356,000-square-foot ZEN Building is designed to generate as much energy as it uses over the course of a year using renewable resources. It will be a living laboratory for research into renewable energy resources, and is expected to draw more than 1,500 “clean tech” jobs to the state.
