Good Morning!

We continue our Campus Fire Safety Month (into October) with some more ways to be aware of how to be fire safe.

Fire Safe Practices

  • Smoking (including the use of e-cigarettes) in Dorm rooms (or any building) is forbidden – many alarms are caused by smoking or use of e-cigarettes
  • Do NOT Cover or Disable/Remove Smoke Detectors
  • Do NOT tamper with Sprinkler heads or hang anything from them
  • Storage must be limited and must be 18-inches below the ceiling (if storage is too high in storage rooms – sprinkler heads may not work properly)
  • Keep bathroom / shower doors closed to prevent steam from setting off detectors

Please email the EHS office at SUNYPOLYEHS@sunypoly.edu if you have any questions.
