Good Morning!

We continue our Campus Fire Safety Month with some more ways to be aware of how to be fire safe.

Recent fire alarms have been a result of the illegal use of e-cigarettes.  Please be aware that the use of e-cigarettes in all dormitories is prohibited.  These devices produce enough vapor to activate smoke alarms.  Activation of smoke alarms results in evacuation of the dormitory.  Multiple false alarm evacuations may cause people to respond slowly or not at all when a real fire emergency is occurring.  Disciplinary action will result from these activities.

In addition, the Maynard Fire Department responds to these alarms whenever they occur.  These firefighters put their lives on the line when they respond.   They are here to protect our community.  These false alarms may result in delayed response to real fires.  Please have respect for these firefighters, your fellow students and the entire community and do not use e-cigarettes in any dormitories or any other buildings on campus.  If you notice anyone using e-cigarettes in the dorms please report these activities as soon as possible.

Please email the EHS office at SUNYPOLYEHS@sunypoly.edu if you have any questions.
