The new semester was kicked into full gear earlier with a powerful message for the class of twenty-nineteen.

From local high school athlete to Major General in the Army, Peggy Combs does tours not only to serve but to give speeches to college students to get them ready for the road ahead.

"If it's not your passion don't do it, do something that you are passionate about, do something that sparks your interest in lifelong learning and education."

"I truly do live by the advice I gave and that is love what you do and you'll never work a day in your life and I absolutely love serving in our Army and I have the best job in the Army; working with college students across the Nation."

But, without someone who pushed her to succeed back in high school, she wouldn’t be who she is today.

“And I said, listen there’s an awful a lot of money out there, and I went on and talked to her parents and her mother at that time was in the Reserves and she went for a weekend and came back with a brochure on ROTC—Peggy filled it out and the rest obviously is history.”

The convocation ceremony gave the Class of 2019 excitement and drive for the upcoming semester.
