Dear Colleagues,

I’m pleased to announce that Eric Hotchkiss has accepted the position of Associate Director of Residential Life and Housing, and will officially begin in this role today, July 14.

As Associate Director, Eric will supervise Utica Residence Directors, manage all housing operations and lead our social media and communications efforts. Eric’s first major project will be installation of our housing software. He recently became a Bystander Facilitator and will take a lead role in training our students in bystander intervention.

Eric has been serving SUNY Poly as Assistant Director of Residential Life and Residence Director in Oriskany Complex since August of 2015. In this role, he has developed several programmatic opportunities between our Albany and Utica first year students, as well as establishing an active and engaged First Year Hall Council. In the past several months, Eric has significantly expanded our campus visibility to current and prospective students via multiple Social Media accounts, upping our followers and interest.

Prior to working at SUNY Poly, Eric was employed as a Residence Director at SUNY Fredonia.  He has a master of Science in Education from SUNY Potsdam and Bachelor of Music, The Crane School of Music SUNY Potsdam Major. Little known fact: Eric’s undergrad major is Music Education, Performance with a Concentration in Trumpet and Voice – at some point, we WILL get a performance out of this.

If you see Eric, please congratulate him on his new position of leadership in Residential Life.

I would like to extend my thanks to Kristin Glass, Stacey Genther, Jennifer George and Matt Putnam for serving on this search committee during a very busy summer!
