To the SUNY Poly Community:

SUNY Polytechnic Institute is dedicated to promoting a campus culture that values diversity and inclusiveness in order to enhance the learning and working environment for every member of our community. In honor of this commitment, President Sammakia has created a Diversity and Inclusion Office which will be tasked with further supporting and providing services to our students and employees. The office will be reaching out and working with our community in the coming months to assess campus needs and engage with members of the community on educational and programmatic initiatives. It will also focus on creating partnerships and increasing outreach efforts with local community organizations, in addition to establishing even better ways to address affirmative action goals that will increase diversity on our Albany and Utica campuses.

Rhonda Haines, in her role as Chief Diversity Officer, will be responsible for further implementing successful Affirmative Action and Title IX approaches for both campuses.

Dr. Robert Yeh has been appointed as the Assistant Provost of Diversity and Inclusion and will assist the office in the creation of new initiatives and projects that promote campus diversity and inclusiveness.

Katie Tynan, who has served as a Deputy Title IX Coordinator over the past two years, has been appointed as the Title IX Coordinator.  Over the coming weeks, Katie will be transitioning her job duties within the Human Resources office and will become dedicated full time to Title IX responsibilities and support of the Diversity and Inclusion Office.

With the creation of this important Diversity and Inclusion Office, SUNY Poly’s Human Resources Department looks forward to further empowering this institution’s students and employees to make this institution the best that it can be.
