SUNY Polytechnic Institute today announced Dr. Jennifer Klimek-Yingling will continue her appointment as Assistant Professor of Nursing and Health Professions.  SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher confirmed the appointment, acknowledging the many contributions Dr. Klimek-Yingling has made to the State University of New York.

“Dr. Klimek-Yingling’s expertise and dedication demonstrate the world-class caliber of SUNY Poly’s faculty and serve as an inspiration to both students and colleagues,” said Dr. Alain Kaloyeros, CEO and Office in Charge of SUNY Poly. “We are delighted to have Dr. Klimek-Yingling as part of the Health Sciences and Management team and congratulate her on her continued appointment.”

“SUNY Poly is committed to offering unmatched learning opportunities and Professor Klimek-Yingling's contributions to the health professions, specifically the nursing profession, provide students with a unique perspective through real-world applications of their course-based studies,” said William W. Durgin, SUNY Poly provost.  “She is a tremendous asset to our institution and we look forward to her continued success.”

Dr. Klimek-Yingling earned her bachelor’s degree from SUNY Institute of Technology (SUNY IT) and entered the adult nurse practitioner program while working as a registered nurse at Faxton-St. Lukes Healthcare. She completed her master’s degree at SUNY IT in 1997, and later returned to receive national certification as both an adult and family nurse practitioner.  Dr. Klimek-Yingling has more than two decades of experience in the field of nursing, including various positions at Faxton-St. Lukes Health Care and St. Elizabeth Medical Center emergency rooms and outpatient facilities. She is a certified New York State sexual assault forensic examiner and New York State child abuse medical provider.

“I am thrilled to continue my appointment at SUNY Poly and appreciate the tremendous mentoring and support I have received from my chair, colleagues and administration,” said Dr. Klimek-Yingling.  “The nursing students serve as a great inspiration and it is a great feeling to be a part of their education. It is humbling to think about how significant an impact their education at SUNY Poly has on the community.  I am truly proud to be a part of this academic institution and look forward to our continued growth.”

“Jennifer has taken the lead in continuous improvement of the nurse practitioner curriculum and is one of the reasons our pass rates on the national certification examinations have been so high,” said Dr. Robert Yeh, Dean of the College of Health Sciences and Management. “After receiving her Ph.D. degree from Rutgers University in 2013, she has excelled as the faculty leader of our nurse practitioner programs.”

“Dr. Klimek-Yingling is setting an example of exceptional achievement for the next generation of healthcare workers enrolled at SUNY Poly through her commitment to education and her continuing service as a dedicated, knowledgeable and compassionate Nurse Practitioner,” said Dr. Louise Dean-Kelly, SUNY Poly Nursing & Health Professions Department Chair. “We are so proud to have someone like her among our ranks, preparing others to follow in the path she herself has traveled.”
