Dear Campus Community,

With the 2017-2018 academic year underway, I would like to invite faculty, staff, and students who are passionate about ensuring diversity, equity, and inclusion on our campuses to come together as part of a new working group at SUNY Polytechnic.

This working group will be tasked with taking actions to positively impact SUNY Poly. Members will share their ideas, develop goals, and implement programming and awareness activities during the current academic year. Some activities could include multicultural programming, heritage and awareness events, increased dialogue, and a lecture series focused on diversity and inclusiveness, among other opportunities. The working group will complement the President’s tactical and strategic group for fostering diversity, which is already in place, to offer yet another avenue for the community to be involved in important diversity initiatives.

We encourage participation from community members who are not only passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion, but also from those who may be new to being involved in campus committee work. If you would like to contribute to expanding SUNY Poly’s diversity efforts, we encourage you to get involved. The working group is an excellent opportunity for both personal and professional development and new faces are always welcome!

The commitment for the approximately five to ten group members will be for the Fall semester, meeting every three weeks, with the first meeting occurring by the end of September and the last meeting scheduled for mid-December.

If you are interested, please respond to me at Rhaines@sunypoly.edu. I am excited about this group’s potential to elevate SUNY Poly.

Thank you for your consideration.
