Dear SUNY Poly community:

In keeping with our annual tradition of welcoming first-year students to the start of the academic year, and as part of the events and activities that mark the beginning of the fall semester, Convocation will be held Tuesday, September 1, beginning at 12:15 p.m. in the Wildcat Field House. The speaker will be Major General Peggy C. Combs, an area native and the first female Commander of the U.S. Army’s Fort Knox.

I invite all students, faculty and staff to participate in this event, as we welcome the Class of 2019 to SUNY Poly. Convocation not only represents the formal start of the academic year; it is also a symbol of our opportunities for growth as a learning community, and as a new and unique academic institution.

Participants will assemble at the Field House at noon, and Convocation will begin with a formal procession at 12:15 p.m. Following the ceremony, Sodexo will serve lunch outside the Field House, weather permitting.

The start of the fall semester is a busy time for us all, and this event is an important way to celebrate and welcome the newest members of the SUNY Poly community. Please plan to attend and participate.
