Do you like history? Enjoy music? At 2:00 pm this Sunday (Sept 14), please join MVILR members and friends at a free concert offered by performer Dave Ruch, a professional musician and educator based in Buffalo NY. Dave will offer a 90 minute concert entitled "Songs and Stories of the Erie Canal" in Kunsela Auditiorium. Dave  is a special musician who sings and plays music for all ages on an intriguing assortment of instruments including mandolin, banjo, guitar, jaw harp, bones, spoons and more. For this multi-generational concert, Ruch presents some of the fruits of his decades-long research into music and life on the Erie Canal, offering classic sing-alongs and toe-tapping music along with rarely-heard pieces and stories from the days of “Clinton’s Ditch.”  Dave performs for for schools, libraries, music festivals, historical societies, museums and community events both at home and abroad. MVILR (Mohawk Valley Institute for Learning in Retirement) welcomes Dave and offers this event through the DeTraglia Education Fund as the fall kick-off event of its Annual Speaker Series. Free refreshments and CD sales will follow the concert. We invite the campus community to enjoy the concert with us!
