Temporary Staffing (Staff & Student Hiring)

The Spring semester is fast approaching; as you think about the temporary staffing needs of your department please note that we have made some changes to further streamline the hiring process.  We have added all required forms to our website ( Human Resource Forms ) so that they are easily accessible for you as the supervisor or potential temporary employee at any time.  This semester, in order to aid you in collecting the required information and documents we will require the Appointment Request Checklist to be completed for every new hire and submitted along with the J ob Description and the  Employment Application   completed by the temporary employee.   If you are requesting multiple employees for your area, please send all requested information in an excel spreadsheet.  All materials should be sent to Amy McLaughlin and Terry Kremer.  If you are unable to identify names of individuals prior to the semester; please submit  a TBD and the rest of the position request information so that we may seek approval for the position requests. Please note that once the name and completed employment application is provided to HR it may take up to two weeks to initiate the start of the position allowing for completion of the required hiring process.  We hope to have the rosters submitted to us by December 8, 2016 .

We are also implementing a card system where each temporary hire is provided a work authorization card once they have attended their HR orientation.  This card will signify to the supervisor that the new employee has completed all the requirements necessary to commence their assignment.  As a supervisor, if your temporary employee has not provided you with this card than they have not been authorized to commence their new assignment and should not begin work until the card is provided to them.

We will be offering some supervisory training sessions at the beginning of the Spring semester to further outline your role as a supervisor.  We encourage all supervisors to attend one of these sessions.  As always please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.
