UTICA – SUNY Polytechnic Institute (SUNY Poly) is receiving additional laptops to distribute to students in need of certain computer programs and technologies for remote study through a generous donation from Silicon Valley-based research partner Applied Materials, Inc.

“On behalf of the entire SUNY Poly community, I wish to express my sincere gratitude to Applied Materials for supporting our students by ensuring that technology is not a barrier to achieving important educational goals,” said SUNY Poly Interim President Dr. Grace Wang. “SUNY Poly is ready to accommodate any student who needs a laptop for coursework, and we are proud that our partnership with Applied Materials is providing resources that further underpin this institution’s high-value education which is helping students gain the skills to thrive for years to come.”

SUNY Poly has loaned laptops to students after surveying students in March regarding special needs for equipment. The additional laptops from Applied Materials will be on hand for students who may need one as remote instruction continues throughout the State University of New York (SUNY) system and at other higher education institutions around the state and nation.

Update: This program has concluded for the 2020-2021 academic year.
