Nursing Advocacy Organization Ranks SUNY Poly’s Online Family Nurse Practitioner MSN Program No. 8 in US
ALBANY, NY – SUNY Polytechnic Institute’s (SUNY Poly’s) online Family Nurse Practitioner MSN Program has been ranked eighth in the United States by RegisteredNursing.org, which lists the institution in its “top ten” chart with other prestigious public and private higher education institutions located throughout the country.
“I am thrilled to witness the success of SUNY Poly’s Family Nurse Practitioner program and its national recognition for not only providing incredible value, but also for the convenience it offers non-traditional students who can complete the coursework around their schedule,” said SUNY Poly Interim President Dr. Grace Wang. “At SUNY Poly, the opportunity to become a healthcare leader is literally at one’s fingertips, and we are proud to share how this program, along with several other nursing degree programs we offer, can be completed through a hybrid combination of online and clinical experiences.”
The RegisteredNursing.org ranking notes that, “The Family Nurse Practitioner MSN program through SUNY Polytechnic Institute offers students a hybrid pathway to their nursing career goals…With most coursework offered online, students are able to complete their FNP education in a convenient and flexible manner.” The description also highlights how on-campus visits decrease as the program advances, and how, significantly, the 45 credit-hour program includes 800 hours of clinical practice.
The methodology used for the organization’s ranking includes data from NCLEX-RN exam pass rates for all RN programs, tuition cost, geographic coverage, and program length.
“The Family Nurse Practitioner program at SUNY Polytechnic Institute has a long and distinguished history,” said Dr. Kathleen Rourke, Professor and Interim Dean of the College of Health Sciences. “We are very honored and pleased to have received such distinguished recognition for the faculty’s work on behalf of the students.”
The latest ranking comes only a year after SUNY Poly introduced several unique academic pathways, including the Upstate Accelerated Scholars Program (ASP) with SUNY Upstate Medical University, through which high school seniors interested in pursuing a doctoral medical degree may be simultaneously accepted to both SUNY Poly and SUNY Upstate with the benefit of having the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) waived. SUNY Poly also launched an online master’s degree program in Transformational Leadership in Nursing to complement an online baccalaureate nursing program that was implemented in fall 2018, among other exciting program opportunities.
