"Treatment of Obesity in Children: Could a Successful Model Lead to Other Long Term Health Issues?"
Donovan G152
Noon - 2 pm
Abstract
Obesity is a health issue with significant consequences. Beyond the advertising world's "holy grail" three important months of the year, the topic of obesity now occupies a good deal of political debate time among policy makers, retailers, manufacturers and the health care world. Dr. Rourke will discuss some of these issues prior to presenting three of her research projects which have explored both physiological and behavioral variables associated with the disease of obesity, including data that suggests that successful treatment of obesity in children may have negative long term consequences on bone mass outcomes.
