The season for respiratory illness has begun as we are seeing an increase of respiratory illnesses; flu-like illness, pneumonia,  bronchitis, colds, etc. here on the SUNYIT campus.

Signs and symptoms of respiratory illness can include coughing, fever, fatigue, headaches, nausea, vomiting, runny nose, rapid breathing or shortness of breath, chills and/ or chest pain.  Please note; fever does not always accompany respiratory illness.

If you are experiencing any of signs and symptoms of respiratory illness, please visit the Health and Wellness Center (Oriskany Hall, Suite B.) or your primary care physician for evaluation and treatment.

Good hygiene practices can help prevent respiratory infections. This includes washing your hands regularly, cleaning hard surfaces that are touched often (cell phones, steering wheels, hand rails, etc.) and coughing or sneezing into a tissue or into your elbow or sleeve.  Avoidance of people with respiratory illness as well as staying home when you are sick is also recommended.

Remember that services provided at the Health & Wellness Center are covered under your mandatory Health Fee that all registered students pay.
