UTICA — The Rotary Club of Utica scholarship recipient Jessica LaGrant has donated $1,000 of her scholarship money to her former high school in El Salvador. LaGrant is a fall 2014 recipient of a paid, semester-long Rotarian internship that she is completing at the Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce. She is a junior at SUNY Polytechnic.

Every semester, the Rotary Club of Utica awards over internships to local college students who compete for the award and places them with local businesses so they gain applied knowledge in their field of study.

In turn, area businesses get a chance to evaluate students for possible future employment, creating the possibility of keeping the bright minds in the Mohawk Valley.
