Rome Sentinel: Small business workshops slated

A new quarterly training program for existing small businesses will launch in October with workshops on financial statements, business continuity, and cybercriminals, the Mohawk Valley Small Business Development Center announced.

Among the workshops, all at SUNY Polytechnic Institute (formerly SUNY IT) in Marcy in Kunsela Hall from 6-7:30 p.m.:

  • Oct. 15, “Understanding the Financial Statements,” offering a comprehensive overview of essential statements for operating a successful business.
  • Oct. 22, “Business Continuity,” regarding what a business needs to be prepared for a natural, technological or human-caused disaster.
  • Oct. 29, “Defend your business against Cybercriminals,” including how to train employees to protect a business from being taken hostage or infiltrated by hackers.

The cost is $15 per person. Pre-registration is required, and persons interested should call the development center at 792-7547 or contact palazzp@sunypoly.edu by email.

The Mohawk Valley Small Business Development Center on the campus of the State University of New York Polytechnic Institute (SUNY Poly) serves Fulton, Herkimer, Madison, Lewis, and Oneida Counties.

The Small Business Development Center provides various workshops and seminars to encourage and support small business. In addition to these events, the center also offers free business advisement to anyone currently in business, or contemplating starting a business in New York State.
