There recently has been many questions regarding the shutdown of the Statewide Financial System (SFS). Here are some FAQs to this event:

Q1.         What is happening?

A1.         New York State is conducting enhancements to the SFS. To complete these enhancements, it is required that the system be shut down. Other times the system is unavailable include reconciliations at the end of the State’s Fiscal Year (end of March annually) and at the end of SUNY’s Fiscal Year (end of June annually).

Q2.         What is the impact on the SUNY Poly campus?

A2.         The impact is that no Purchase Orders can be processed and only certain payments can be made.

Q3.         What can I do if I need to purchase something?

A3.         Staff are still able to use P-Cards and Purchase Orders that have already been issued to purchase items until the SFS is back up and running.

Q4.         When will things go back to normal?

A4.         The estimated date that was provided for the system returning to normal is mid-October. When notification is received that the system is back up, everyone will be notified.
