Do you have what it takes? Do you like to sing? If so, come to the Wednesday Wind Down on Wednesday, January 25th, 2017, 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM, and strut your stuff! Get your friends to come out and support you! They get a vote too!

SUNY Poly faculty/staff vs. students! If you can sing we want to hear you! For your efforts, the winner will receive a $200 cash prize and another $200 to your favorite charity! There will be a panel of judges that will select one lucky winner!

AUDITION INFORMATION:

Contestants must be a SUNY Polytechnic Institute faculty, staff, or student and must show proof of college ID.

All contestants must be prepared to sing a song of your choice either a cappella or with your own instrumental accompaniment, {e.g. – guitar, violin, etc.}. If you would like back-up music, contestants must provide their own back-up music.

Contestants must submit a short personal data about yourself including:

  • Your role at SUNY Polytechnic Institute
  • If a student, what is your major of study
  • How you would like our emcee to introduce you
  • If you have past accomplishments in music-related areas, provide a short overview

Contestant is allowed to perform (2) selections for our judges to critique. All performances must be done in good taste ~ no music or lyrics that may be considered offensive. No special lighting, props, or special effects may be used.

To ensure fairness, the judging system applied is by a combination of scores. Audience votes account for 30% of the total score and the judges’ tally of points account for 70% of the total score. Each member of the audience with a ballot will cast their one vote for a favored contestant.

 

JUDGING CRITERIA:

  • 40% = Vocal Ability ~ rhythm, pitch, enunciation, overall ability
  • 20% = Stage Presence ~ movement, stage professionalism
  • 20% = Appearance
  • 10% = Song Selection
  • 10% = Overall Talent ~ entertainment

 

In the event of a tie, the two contestants will face-off with a final song selection. Contestants should be prepared to have a final competition sing-off.

 

WINNER:receives $200 and $200 to their charity of choice. Awards will be sent within a week of the conclusion of the competition.
