Suny Polytechnic Institute Professor David Pasick said he believed the Mohawk Valley Crime Analysis Center would pair well with the college's newly-created crime analytics minor, which focuses on "learning the methods and technologies used to discover, interpret, and communicate significant patterns in crime data," according to course information.

Pasick, who teaches sociology and criminal justice, said the college has already had a student who shadowed the Utica Police Department's crime analyst prior to the creation of the crime center, as well as an alum who is currently interviewing for a crime analyst position at the Albany Crime Analysis Center.
