SUNY Poly MBA Management Program Ranked Fifth in Nation

MBA-Technology Management with concentration in Health Services Management recognized in prestigious list

UTICA, NY – As a testament to Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s commitment to provide world-class educational opportunities throughout New York State, SUNY Polytechnic Institute today announced that its Management Programs concentrating in Health Services has been ranked fifth in the nation in Top Masters in Healthcare’s “50 Most Affordable Selective Colleges for Healthcare Management 2015.” SUNY Poly was ranked above other institutions such as Rutgers University (#8), Ohio State University (#22), Cornell University (#29) and Boston University (#33).

“This ranking is the latest to recognize Governor Andrew Cuomo’s commitment to providing residents in New York State affordable, quality educational opportunities via first-class public colleges such as SUNY Polytechnic Institute,” said Dr. Alain Kaloyeros, President and CEO of SUNY Poly. “It is with great pride that we have watched our MBA in Technology Management, with concentrations in Health Services Management, continue to thrive and receive the prestigious recognition it deserves. Top Masters in Healthcare takes a data-based approach in determining the 50 most affordable selective colleges for a healthcare management degree in 2015. To develop their ranking, the website looks at four-year institutions that accept less than 60% of their applications, noting that Masters level programs are often more competitive. From there, the list is narrowed down to those with the lowest net tuition rate, with additional points given to schools based on their student/faculty ratio, net tuition, and retention rate.

Healthcare Management encompasses a wide variety of positions and settings within the healthcare field. Positions exist within hospitals, insurance companies, long term care facilities, rehabilitation clinics, consultant firms, and a myriad of other forms and levels of management. In announcing its rankings, Top Masters in Healthcare wrote that “Earning a degree in healthcare management opens doors for management and supervisory positions within these settings. Those choosing to pursue an advanced degree can become a CEO, CFO, or other executive and help shape the future vision of that healthcare establishment.”

SUNY Polytechnic Institute’s programs in health care include an MBA in Technology Management with a concentration in Health Services Management, and MBA in Technology Management with a concentration in Health Informatics and a BS in Health Information Management.

SUNY Poly recently merged the MBA-Health Services Management with its current MBA-Technology Management with Health Services Management concentration, Dr. Yeh noted, adding that the institution revised and improved the Health Service Management concentration with the new healthcare trend and curriculum, now offering the Health Informatics concentration.

The program stresses the use of modern techniques to analyze and develop business solutions and prepare students for upper-level management jobs. The focus of the coursework is on the use of quantitative and qualitative analyses in conjunction with financial, accounting, and economic principles to solve current and future business challenges.
