Youth camps offer exciting exploration and innovation-focused learning opportunities

Utica, NY – SUNY Polytechnic Institute is currently accepting applications for its 2017 STEM-based youth summer camp programs in Utica. The camps offer young innovators exciting opportunities to be actively involved in scientific exploration in areas that include robotics, nanotechnology, computer programming, and inventing.

“SUNY Poly looks forward to offering exciting educational summer programming for our community,” said Dr. Bahgat Sammakia, Interim President of SUNY Polytechnic Institute. “This year offers a wide range of hands-on learning opportunities to spur the imagination as well as develop a deeper understanding and appreciation for the STEM fields and the key role they play in the world around us. SUNY Poly’s summer STEM camps help open the minds of our youth to the ways in which science, technology, engineering, and math enable so much of the amazing world around us.”

SUNY Poly’s summer camp programs promote scientific exploration in supportive, nurturing environments where children can meet new friends, gain confidence in their skills, and feel good about who they are while learning.

Inspiring youth ages 6-18, these innovative summer STEM camps at SUNY Poly in Utica offer exciting activities such as Java Programming using Minecraft, FIRST LEGO League robotics, FIRST Tech Challenge robotics, inventing, and engineering a pinball machine, as well as learning more about nanotechnology, among other topics that aim to provide a foundation for academic and personal success. Participants have fun while also expanding their career horizons through an experiential approach to learning STEM concepts. The camps link projects and processes to real-world applications, in addition to including special guest visits from professionals or college students in related fields.
