SUNY Polytechnic Institute is planning yet another economic development project in Central New York.

The nanotechnology-focused school, based in Albany, is launching a partnership with Le Moyne College and a Syracuse company, Nectar Partners, to create a Clean-Tech Innovation and Commercialization Hub in Onondaga County.

Clean tech involves a range of innovations that help save energy, improve efficiency and cut pollution. It could be anything from better light bulbs to advanced environmental control systems for buildings.

The school announced the project today, but provided no details on where the hub will be located, how many jobs it will create or how much the state will invest.

Jim Joseph, dean at Le Moyne's Madden School of Business, said the investment is seven figures. Joseph declined to provide more details. He said state officials will make additional announcements soon.

Although Joseph wouldn't reveal the location, there is one possible candidate.

Cor Development of Fayetteville won approval earlier this year for a 60,000-square-foot manufacturing facility at the Collamer Crossing Business Park in DeWitt. Cor officials wouldn't say anything about tenants.

But the site is near another SUNY Poly-backed nano project, the Central New York Hub for Emerging Nano Industries. Cor also built that facility.
